At the start of the coronavirus outbreak, Trump declared himself as a ‘Wartime President’ on Twitter. With this nickname, Donald Trump hoped to appear as a warrior against the pandemic, offering a sense of hope and security.
However, quite a few people weren’t sold on the idea. Quickly, Trump’s tweet became attacked by criticism and mockery. Some users even stated that the president was embarrassing them and was failing in the great war against COVID-19.
This Tuesday, President Donald Trump decided to give the nickname swirl another spin. This time he posted on Twitter, with all caps, “THE LONE WARRIOR!” Instead of aiming at the coronavirus, this nickname was meant to be geared towards the Russian Military which appeared to be “paying bounties to Afghanistan militants for killing American soldiers.” It seems that the president has known about this for months and has decided to set up a meeting with Russia’s President to handle the matter.
Twitter, once again, was not on board with “the lone warrior.” The tweet was charged by a stream of hate comments, and hostility. In addition, Joe Biden, also suggested that the president has “surrendered” to the coronavirus, as he faces more debate with former president Obama.
In the past, Trump has asked to be called names such as “President T,” and “Mr. Brexit.” So now the question is: what blizzard tweet will determine the next memorable name suggested by the “king of nicknames.”
