If you haven't heard by now here's the T. Artist Lil Nas X recently released a pair of custom Air Max 97's with New York base art collective MSCHF.
The roll out of the shoe seems to go with the release of his latest single "Montero", which came out Thursday night. In the video the artist is giving Satan a lap dance! (Watch Below)
Already the internet was triggered by this otherworldly video. Almost right after Lil Nas X put out pictures of his sneaker collaboration, which at first seemed to be a partnership with Nike.
The shoe is a Nike classic and is pretty obviously advertised as one. The modified sneakers, dubbed as "Satan Shoes", are tied to the aesthetic of his recent release. The sneakers released on March 29th at a price point of $1,018. The internet was in a frenzy about its release because of its devilish references.
The sneakers feature a pentagon charm, text reading "LUKE 10:18" — which reads "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven"— and a stamp showing the shoe's number in the collection. (e.g., 17/666) The shoes were going to be exclusively released through MSCHF and only 666 pairs were going to be made.
BUT WAIT IT GETS WORSE...
The shoes even contain a drop of real human blood, which a spokesperson for MSCHF told CNN was donated by members of their team.
MSCHF & Their Past...
This isn't the first time MSCHF have put a spin on a Nike sneaker, In 2019 MSCHF made another Air Max 97 with water inside the bubble soled shoes referencing Jesus Christ. The sneakers also had a crucifix.
In an emailed statement to CNN, Nike said it was not involved in creating the modified sneakers.
"We do not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF," the company said. "Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them."
